Kamukunji MP Yusuf Hassan has praised the Kamukunji-based Peace and Youth Awareness Organisation (PAY) for providing iftar food assistance to 280 needy families in the constituency during the holy month of Ramadan.

The organisation, led by businessman Abdirahman Shibli, has now carried out the charitable initiative for the seventh consecutive year, continuing a sustained effort to support vulnerable households in Kamukunji.

The food packages distributed by PAY contain 42 kilogrammes of rice, wheat and maize flour, sugar, and three litres of cooking oil, offering timely relief to families observing Ramadan.

Yusuf Hassan said the support would go a long way in helping the beneficiary families through the fasting month, describing the initiative as an important act of compassion and community solidarity.
“I extend my sincere thanks to the Kamukunji-based Peace and Youth Awareness Organisation (PAY), led by businessman Abdirahman Shibli, for providing iftar food assistance to 280 needy families in the neighbourhood.”
He noted that this year’s distribution marks the 7th consecutive year that PAY has extended such assistance to families in need across Kamukunji, underlining the consistency of the organisation’s support.

The MP also called on the wider Eastleigh business community and local traders to emulate PAY’s example by extending support to struggling families during the sacred month.
“I urge the broader Eastleigh business community and our dedicated traders to rise to this noble cause and emulate PAY’s inspiring example.”
He said such contributions not only help ease hardship during Ramadan, but also strengthen the spirit of care, unity, and shared responsibility within the community.

Yusuf Hassan added that acts of generosity during the holy month carry great value, both in uplifting vulnerable families and in reinforcing the bonds that hold the community together.
