Police in Marsabit have launched a manhunt for two suspects linked to the killing of an 18-year-old man at a watering point in Bandasa area, near Marsabit town.

The victim, Dargicho Bagijo, was shot three times in the head and chest on July 2 in an attack that has raised concern among residents and local authorities.

The attackers, who are said to be known to the victim, fled the scene shortly after the shooting.

According to police, the motive behind the murder remains unclear. The body was discovered lying near the water point, with the victim's items found untouched next to him.

Officers recovered three used cartridges at the scene, which are now being subjected to ballistic tests to aid investigations.

Police confirmed they are actively pursuing two prime suspects in connection with the murder.

The location of the attack lies close to the border between Isiolo and Marsabit counties, where security agencies have previously flagged disputes over access to watering points.

In another case in Maili Tatu, Tigania area of Meru County, 55-year-old Steve Gitonga was found dead inside his home with serious injuries to his head, back, and hands.

Officers who visited the scene said the injuries were likely caused by a blunt object.

No arrests had been made by the time of the report, and detectives are still trying to determine the motive behind the attack. His body was taken to the mortuary for a post-mortem.

Elsewhere, in Tana River County, 34-year-old Geoffrey Gitonga died at the hospital after being assaulted in Mororo village.

The reason behind the attack is still unknown, and police say they are searching for suspects linked to the killing.

The body has been moved to Garissa Level Five Hospital mortuary pending autopsy.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident in Isiolo County, police arrested an 18-year-old man accused of killing his one-month-old niece.

The baby, who was the child of the suspect’s sister, was reportedly murdered inside their home. The motive for the killing has not yet been established, but police say investigations are underway.

Police in all affected regions say investigations are ongoing and have urged residents to remain calm as efforts to bring those responsible to justice continue.
