Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested Shedrack Omondi Okindo, alias Hon. Mosquito +254, in connection with the alleged inflammatory remarks he made in a video widely circulated on TikTok on August 1, 2025.

In the viral clip, he called for the release of ex-serviceman Patrick Osoi and former prisons warder Jackson Kihara, alias Cop Shakur, who were apprehended last week over an alleged plot to commit a felony.

In a direct address to the President, Okindo warned that if they were not released, former servicemen would take action.

“We as the forces are tired and will fight for our own people,” he added.

According to the DCI, the inflammatory clip, which spread rapidly online, contained threats of violence and incitement against public order, prompting public concern and swift action by security agencies.

“Okindo is currently in custody, undergoing processing as he awaits his court appearance,” the DCI stated.

The suspect was traced to the Miritini area of Mombasa County, where he was arrested.

Two pairs of tactical combat fatigues, three mobile phones, assorted documents linked to the Justice Direction Party, and a notebook allegedly containing the words “We are going to apply guerrilla resistance tactics – Justice to all freedom heroes” among other items, were confiscated.

The suspect had been using a relatively new TikTok account with over 100,000 followers to call for dissent against the government. In one of his viral clips, he demanded the President’s resignation, claiming that what was happening in Ivory Coast would soon be replicated in Kenya.

In the same video, he also criticised former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka, and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, claiming that all prisoners would be released following their arrests.

“We are going to occupy all the airports and border areas without fear or favour because we are prepared,” he said.

In yet another clip, he claimed that a coup d'état was the only solution to the country’s current challenges.
