A Significant Milestone for the Youth of Kamukunji

On 25 January 2026, we launched a quick-impact training programme aimed at equipping unemployed
youth in Kamukunji with the practical skills, resources, and tools they need to succeed.

This week, 1,649 young people will begin a three- to six-month skills training
programme across 16 trades—including plumbing, electrical installation, catering, hairdressing and
beauty, driving, and more.

Training will be delivered through:
  • YMCA National Training Institute (Shauri Moyo)
  • Kamukunji Vocational and Technical College (Airbase)
  • Rocky Driving School
Our goal is simple: deliver real, tangible change—by creating pathways to jobs, supporting entrepreneurship, and
empowering our young people to make meaningful contributions to their community and the local economy.

The Kamukunji Youth Empowerment Programme is built on a belief I hold strongly: our youth are our greatest
asset
. They deserve not only hope—but the skills and opportunities to thrive.
