The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has announced the opening of its inter-institutional transfer window for students placed in the 2025/2026 academic year.

The application period will run from July 14 to August 24, 2025.

According to KUCCPS, the process provides an opportunity for students who may wish to change their programmes or institutions after placement.

This move comes shortly after KUCCPS released the placement results for the 2025/2026 intake on July 1, 2025, assigning thousands of students to various universities, constituent colleges, and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions across the country.

"During processing of Inter-Faculty/Programme transfers in degree programmes, institutions are required to strictly adhere to individual programme cut-off points and minimum subject requirements as published by KUCCPS," said the Placement Service.

The inter-institutional transfer process involves several steps.

Student applies for a transfer through the KUCCPS online portal, selecting the preferred institution and programme.

The institution the student wants to join (receiving institution) reviews and approves the request if the student meets the programme’s requirements.

The current institution (releasing institution) then confirms and releases the student.

KUCCPS reviews the application, and if all approvals are in place, it issues a formal transfer letter.

KUCCPS emphasised that all transfers must adhere to published minimum entry requirements and programme cut-off points. Institutions are expected to support students efficiently throughout the transfer period.

The inter-institutional transfer window is part of KUCCPS’s ongoing effort to align students with courses and institutions that best suit their aspirations and qualifications.

Students are encouraged to visit the KUCCPS website for detailed guidelines and instructions on the transfer process.
