Motorists using the Nairobi Expressway are advised to expect major disruptions on Sunday, July 13, 2025, as a section of the highway will be temporarily closed to facilitate the construction of a pedestrian overpass at Syokimau.

The closure, announced by MOJA Expressway Company, will begin at midnight and last a full 24 hours, with normal operations resuming at midnight on Monday, July 14.

According to the company, the closure is necessary to ensure the safety of both motorists and construction crews during the installation of the new pedestrian structure.

"Please note that some sections of the Nairobi Expressway will be temporarily closed throughout Sunday, July 13, 2025, from midnight to pave the way for the construction of a pedestrian overpass at Syokimau," the notice read.

"Normal traffic operations will resume from midnight on Monday, July 14, 2025."

The closure will specifically affect motorists entering the expressway from Mlolongo and Syokimau.

Those heading toward the Central Business District (CBD) are advised to exit at the SGR Exit and re-enter via the SGR Entrance.

"CBD-bound motorists using the Mlolongo and Syokimau Entrance are advised to use the SGR Exit and re-enter via the SGR Entrance, while Mlolongo-bound motorists are advised to use the JKIA Exit."
